Trevor Groom To Be Honoured

The great euphonium player Trevor Groom is to be honoured with the Masters Dedicated Service Award. Philip Biggs and Richard Franklin have announced that the celebrated ephonium sloist, Trevor Groom will receive this year's Masters Dedicated Service Award.

It will be presented to him at the conclusion of the All England Masters International Championship which takes place at the Corn Exchange, Cambridge on Sunday 25th May.

Distinguished performer

Trevor was for many years the distinguished solo euphonium player with GUS (Footwear) Band and was seen both nationally and internationally as one of the foremost brass soloists of his era.

Concerto for Euphonium

The first ever 'Concerto for Euphonium' was composed especially for Trevor in 1972 by Joseph Horovitz and performed by him at the Royal Albert Hall.

Trevor hails from Kettering Salvation Army and as well as playing with the Citadel Band has also been a member of the Virtuosi Band conducted by Eric Ball and Kings of Brass.
