Saturday 14th March 2009 was Harborough Bands chance to shine as we competed in the first section of the Midlands region of the 2009 qualifying championships.  The pre-draw had placed us in the second half of the draw, and Mark Stamp our draw delegate pulled us numer 9 out of the hat which meant we were the first to perform after the comfort break.  

On paper we were the underdogs, as newly promoted and still with a few empty seats our main concern was getting throught the piece of music, which was an ample challenge for many of the bands on the day.

The roar of cheer that arose in the pub when Mark announced that we had been places 12th was somewhat missunderstood by other bandsmen.
